“And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.” ‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭4:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬
In order for God to enlarge the coast of Jabez or take the limits of his life or ministry. God had to first enlighten the eyes of his understanding about his situation. Jabez was asking God to enlighten his darkness concerning his case.

Many have limited God in their lives because the eyes of their understanding in God’s Word is not enlighten.

There is no way we can receive or posses what belongs to us without first knowing what belongs to us and our right to use or have what belongs to us in Christ .

For this reason Paul prayed for his young converts in Christ as guided by the Holy Spirit that the eyes of the understanding will be enlightened.

Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,” Ephesians‬ ‭1:16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬
As joint heirs together with Christ , we have a joint inheritance together. This is our redemption rights as believers in Christ. Until we know our rights in Christ and begin to exercise it, the enemy will take advantage of our ignorance and hold us captive.

A great example of our redemption rights is:

In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor,” Ephesians‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
This is what Jesus is already done for us. We must accept this scripture in our spirit, soul and body and rebuke Satan attacks against our lives.
Remember when the enemy want to attack he will cause you to remember what you have to forget (condemnation of your past faults or what people did to you) and will cause you to forget what you need to remember (God’s Word). And the enemy also attacks through our circumstances. God’s word is His light that shines in our darkness. That’s is why we must make it our meditation.

We as believers in Christ must refuse to settle for anything less than God’s standard for our lives in Christ.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, enlighten my darkness in my circumstances through Your Spirit in my meditations (prayer, study of the word and communion or fellowship) in Jesus name. Amen
