Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.” Psalms 37:4 AMP

Most of the time we want to see the desires and petitions of our heart granted, but we don’t desire or delight God’s presence. A reason to this is that our mind and flesh is easily drawn to worldly affections, due to the fact that it is not being trained spiritually in the things of God Almighty.

That is why we pray in the Spirit, for the Holy Spirit to help our spirit to bring us in a place whereby our delight is rested on God and also brings about the manifestation of the desires of our heart.

It’s our spirit that delights in God Almighty but our soul and body not.

For I endorse and delight in the Law of God in my inmost self [with my new nature]. [Ps. 1:2.].” Romans 7:22 AMP

So it’s our responsibility to learn to train spirit, soul and body in the things of God so they all can align to delight in God Almighty. And one of the ways we do this is by praying in the spirit.

And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 AMP

Apostle Paul prayed this prayer with the help of the Holy Spirit to help us know God Almighty wants all three (spirit, soul and body) to align. So that the secret petitions of our hearts can be granted.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. Help me by Your Spirit to align my spirit, soul and body to delight in You even as I pray in the spirit in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
