Today we read:
2 Chronicles 10-11

-Food for thought day 230-

• Philippians 2:5-9
• ‭‭John‬ ‭13:4-15‬
• ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:13‬

God’s Love is a dirt remover. That means it ministers to the bowed down and inferior. The Word of God says: “Got up from supper, took off His garments, and taking a [servant’s] towel, He fastened it around His waist. Then He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the [servant’s] towel with which He was girded. When He came to Simon Peter, [Peter] said to Him, Lord, are my feet to be washed by You? [Is it for You to wash my feet?] Jesus said to him, You do not understand now what I am doing, but you will understand later on. Peter said to Him, You shall never wash my feet! Jesus answered him, Unless I wash you, you have no part with (in) Me [you have no share in companionship with Me]. Simon Peter said to Him, Lord, [wash] not only my feet, but my hands and my head too! Jesus said to him, Anyone who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is clean all over. And you [My disciples] are clean, but not all of you. For He knew who was going to betray Him; that was the reason He said, Not all of you are clean. So when He had finished washing their feet and had put on His garments and had sat down again, He said to them, Do you understand what I have done to you? You call Me the Teacher (Master) and the Lord, and you are right in doing so, for that is what I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher (Master), have washed your feet, you ought [it is your duty, you are under obligation, you owe it] to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you this as an example, so that you should do [in your turn] what I have done to you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭13:4-15‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

In the Jewish culture, slaves were the ones responsible for washing the feet of their masters. They were the less privileged, poor and inferior. Jesus washed the feet of His disciples to teach them that true love, ministers or reaches out to the inferior in the society.

Jesus Christ came to minister to such people.

“Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [to repentance] the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin). [Hos. 6:6.]”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:13‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

That’s why He took the position of a slave (Please read Philippians 2:5-9), to communicate to His disciples that the true Love of God is always looking for the bowed down to minister to them.

As a believer in Christ, we have to practice washing the feet of our brethren and less privileged.

Remember: love washes the feet of another.

Practice washing the feet of those in need.

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.

Think and act!!!!
